Be creative and make a painting using sunlight as your brush!
Make a painting using foam shapes and other objects as reverse stencils or resists on paper treated with chemicals that react with sunlight. Create your picture with shapes to block the Sun's UV rays, and then leave it in direct sunlight, which reacts with the chemicals in the paper to change the colour of any exposed areas to a bluish hue, leaving behind an impression of your design in the original paper colour. Like developing film, the last steps in the process are to wash your image in water to remove the chemicals and stop the reaction, and then let it dry. This is a centuries old process that can be used to make art, but was most likely to be seen on a construction or building site as a blueprint (the root word 'cyano' means 'blue' and 'type' means 'print.') All materials will be provided.
