Listen to Bill Moran dive into the story and company of Scott Misener, a man with Sarnia roots and most of his key people from Lambton County.
Bill Moran will be discussing Scott Misener and his steamships. There will be photos accompanying tales of local families, Misener happenings, and histories of the family and ships.
Scott Misener was known in Sarnia and Lambton County as being an entrepreneurial captain who began his company during World War I and greatly expanded during the Great Depression and World War II. A strength of his company was being able to see viable business opportunities, such as when the company bought larger ships with the opening of the St. Lawrence Seaway in 1959. Misener died in 1963, and the company faced two generational changes within a decade. By 1993, the company was dissolved after financial struggles.
