Junior STEAM - Bottle Raft Buoyancy Experiment -
Summer Reading Challenge
Wednesday, July 22
4:00pm - 5:30pm
Explore buoyancy and engineering by building a pontoon raft that can hold weight.
Using recycled plastic bottles, rubber bands and craft sticks, make a raft that that will float and support the weight of the entire Stone family (a real bagful of rocks, if you ask us) to help them in their goal of staying afloat on a rockin' aquatic tour. You will need to use your physics and engineering skills to build and test out the family's raft design and experiment with ballast to find the perfect raft height to avoid tipping over in high seas or taking on too much water and 'sinking like a Stone' as the family likes to say. Are you ready to accept the challenge?
Recommended age: 9-12
Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
