1:30pm - 2:30pm
Join Christina Sydorko, Educational Program Coordinator from the Oil Museum of Canada National Historic Site to learn about the causes and local impacts of the 1970s energy crisis.
The oil crisis of the 1970s changed the world’s economy in a big way. During this time, many countries took control of their own oil resources. Oil also became a political tool, used by some nations to gain power over others. Oil embargoes didn’t just affect global politics, they also created tension within Canada. An east-west divide grew across the country. In the end, one region came out ahead: the people of Sarnia-Lambton.
Join Christina Sydorko, Educational Program Coordinator from the Oil Museum of Canada National Historic Site to learn about the causes and impacts of the 1970s energy crisis and grow in your understanding of the global and economic forces that still shape world events, and our local economy, today.
