Join artist, Mary Abma for an exploration of story using glass mosaic materials.
Join artist, Mary Abma for an art experience in which participants will be invited to tell their stories through mixed-media artistic expression. You will learn strategies for storytelling using the language of art, and mosaic techniques that will help you to express your own story through this ancient and tactile artistic medium.
Mary Abma is a local, science-based, trans-disciplinary artist. Her laboratories range from her yard in suburbia to the streets and forests of larger, diverse communities. Through the lens of her work, she offers points of entry into the ecosystems that weave all living beings together and sustain life. Through her work, she acknowledges human destructiveness and responds by translating the rhythms and patterns that she observes in the so-called “natural world" into works that challenge the notion of boundaries and separation. A qualified teacher, Abma specializes in facilitating community-engaged artworks.
Each participant will create a small mosaic to take home.
Registration is required.
