Stop by the library to enjoy weekly activities based on this years Summer Reading Program theme. These activities are both educational and a great way to connect with peers. This program is recommended for children ages 6-12. Children under 10 must have a caregiver present.

July 2 - Dino Parachutes:
Play a dinosaur game, then design and test a parachute for dinosaur figurines.
July 11 - Dino Digs:
Free the dinos! A variety of prehistoric friends are stuck in the 'earth' and it's up to young paleontologists to locate them.
July 16 - Roman Mosaics:
This project is colourful and fun, using paper tiles to create and explore the ancient Roman practice of mosaic-making.
July 18 - Olympic Torches:
Learn about the significance of the Olympic torch then experience the ritual of the Olympic torch, from the lighting of its flame, and the torch relay.
July 23 - Viking Longships:
Learn about Vikings and make your very own longship (drakkar) to take home with you. Learn about the Vikings and how they masterfully constructed these ships for survival on the sea.
July 25 - Spaghetti Pyramids:
Considered to be the world's oldest monumental structures, learn about Egyptian pyramids and build your own pyramids to see just how magnificent they are!
July 30 - Medieval Catapults:
Imagine being part of a medieval army, storming city walls. Build small, functioning catapults capable of launching small projectiles. Learn how catapults work before building one and testing it out during target practice. Will our campaign be successful?
August 1 - Stained Glass Windows:
Stained glass reached its height of popularity during medieval times. Create a piece of beautiful medieval 'stained-glass' window art.
August 6 - Victorian Silhouettes:
This unique style of portrait is a signature look of the Victorian Era. Create a frame and side-portrait of yourself to take home.
August 8 - Sherlock Holmes Detective Camp:
Develop spy names, learn about secret messages before creating your own, and see if you can locate items in our mystery container.
August 13 - Fashion of The Future:
Learn about the history of fashion then design and create pieces of clothing that you think people of the future will wear.
August 15 - Toys of the Future:
Discuss how toys have changed throughout history then create a prototype of a toy you think children will play with in the future.
