Learn how to create better photographs with Richard Beland, professional photographer and coordinator of the Lambton College Photography Program.
Richard will discuss techniques for making great photographs rather than just taking photographs. Learn about different aspects of composition and how to use them to improve your photography. He will also provide information on Lambton College's photography program for those interested in pursing photography education.
Richard Beland is a music photographer with an extensive body of work, which dates back to 1993 and includes live performance photographs as well as studio portraits, celebrates popular music's depth and eclectic breadth. From photographs of Coldplay to those of The Tragically Hip, Richard Beland's images of international stars and Canadian icons reveal his passion for his craft, his keen sense of composition, and his steadfast commitment to detail.
Over the years, Beland’s photographic contributions have been recognized with numerous awards and nominations, including a Juno Award nomination in 2004 for Album Design of the Year on Gord Downie’s album, Battle of the Nudes. Beland has also received the distinction of a Canadian Country Music Award for his work in Jason McCoy’s Greatest Hits CD, and a Canadian Country Music Award nomination for his photographs within Johnny Reid’s album Kickin’ Stones. Beland’s photographs have also made appearances in well-known publications, including Rolling Stone, SPIN, Mojo, Kerrang!, People, and MacLean’s.
The Sarnia Library houses a 306-seat accessible theatre. Up to nine seats can be removed to accommodate barrier free seats.
The theatre is equipped with LED lighting along aisles, wall sconces and ceiling, sound equipment, projection screen, stage, lobby area with servery and barrier free washrooms.
