Discuss “Amazing Grace Adams” by Fran Littlewood, a contemporary fiction that follows Grace; a brilliant polyglot—someone who speaks many languages—who has hit a wall.
Her career has stalled, her husband (Ben) has left her, and her teenage daughter lives with her ex. Grace Adams, 45, is perimenopausal, burnt out, and estranged from her family. Stuck in gridlock on the hottest day of the year, she abandons her car. She treks across London with an expensive birthday cake, desperate to reconnect with her 16-year-old daughter, Lotte, and win back her fractured life.
