Enjoy weekly summer activities at the library.
Stop by the library to enjoy our Friday Fun activities. Themed, weekly activities are both educational and a great way to connect with peers. Our Summer themes each week will be:
Fri. July 5 - Pre-Historic Fun - Head to the Cretaceous period for some library fun! Play the TriceraToss (ring toss) Game, create a dinosaur clothes pin puppet or a dinosaur tail hat. You can also participate in the Dino Lego challenge.
Fri. July 12 - Back to the Future - We will blast off to the future this week as you make your own Straw Rocket and try to launch it as far as you can. You can also create a paper towel rocket and then watch as your very own rocket is propelled by Alka-Seltzer and water and blasts into the air.
Fri. July 19 - The Egypt Experience - Travel to Ancient Egypt this week and create your own Pharaoh cuff bracelet, participate in the pyramid challenge to build a pyramid from toothpicks and marshmallows, play pyramid bowling, and create a mummy pencil holder.
Fri. July 26 - Greek Hero Training Camp - Train as the Greek Heroes once did. Create an Olive Wreath Crown to wear as you participate in the Test of Agility, the Test of Speed and the Test of Teamwork. After the competition, learn about Skytales and create your own secret message.
Fri. Aug 2 - Think Like Sherlock Holmes - Activate your detective skills as you travel to the Victorian Era and learn to think like Sherlock. Make your own a magnifying glass, create thumb print art, play a hands on game of I-Spy, and solve the detective scavenger hunt.
Fri. Aug 9 - The Wild, Wild West -Explore the excitement of the Wild West this week, by creating a campfire craft, make edible covered wagons, play a round of cactus ring toss and make a paper plate horse.
This program is recommended for children ages 5-12.
Children under 10 must have a caregiver present.
