Each week of Saturday Kids' Club is a different collection of activities, crafts, and interactive experiences to make learning and socializing fun! For July and August, our programming is based on the Summer Reading Program theme:
July 6: Matisse Cubism Art
Explore your creative side as we make paper design masterpiece by cutting shapes inspired by artist and printmaker Henri Matisse. This project will explore "drawing with scissors" as Matisse called it, and how colourful, textured paper shapes can be assembled into unique pieces of art.
July 13: Nazca Lines
What are Nazca Lines? Learn about these intriguing geographic mysteries - called geoglyphs - and replicate!
July 20: Dino Diorama
Make a shoebox diorama with your favourite dinosaurs using layers of paper and recyclable materials.
July 27: Victorian Silhouettes
This unique style of portrait is a signature look of the Victorian Era. Create a frame and side-portrait of yourself to take home.
August 3: Dinosaur Silhouettes
Shine a spotlight on your favourite dinosaur to copy it's silhouette in a unique dino-themed illustration.
August 10: Phones - Past and Present
Learn about the ever-expanding history of telephones from past to present and participate in an experiment.
August 17: Catapults
Build a catapult and compete with others to see who can fire the farthest!
