Creating a Basic Resumé | Teens

Are you a teen looking to write your very first resumé? Resumé 101 is available at the library!

In this one-hour workshop for teens, you will learn the basics of creating a resumé built with the latest tips, tricks, and advice to help you land the job interview!

During the workshop, you’ll learn:

1. What a resumé is and the different resumé formats
2. How to identify transferrable skills from school and extra-curricular activities to enhance your resumé
3. How to write effective statements on your resumé
4. How to ensure your resumé is compatible with employer screening tools like Applicant Tracking Systems

At the end of this session, participants will have an outline of their resumé in Microsoft Word, which they can then continue to build and expand on either at the library or at home.

A limited number of devices will be available for participant use. Participants can also choose to bring their own device equipped with Microsoft Word if they would prefer to use their own.

Basic mouse and keyboarding skills are required.
