Programs exploring topics and themes related to the One Book Lambton selected title.
Join us for an evening exploring how freedom of expression applies to our online interactions with Cara Zwibel, lawyer and director of the fundamental freedoms program at the Canadian Civil Liberties Association.
The Internet has allowed for the democratization of expression – everyone and anyone can be a publisher online and get their message out to a broad audience. This has its benefits and its drawbacks. In this session we will discuss some of the legal issues around online expression including the law of defamation, how some technology companies are exploring new ways to regulate and moderate content and new government plans to address this issue.
This will be a 45 minute presentation + 15 minute Q&A.
