Magic of Sourdough
Summer Reading Challenge
Monday, July 20
1:00pm - 2:00pm
Discover the magic of sourdough in this hands‑on, beginner‑friendly workshop led by Cedarview Farm Bakery.
This interactive presentation will introduce the fundamentals of sourdough breadmaking, including how sourdough works, how to care for a starter, and simple ways to incorporate sourdough into your home baking.
Participants will learn:
- What a sourdough starter is and how natural fermentation creates flavour and texture
- How to feed, maintain, and troubleshoot a starter at home
- Foundational dough‑handling skills, including guided practice on folding techniques that help build structure
To make the experience fully hands‑on, attendees will have the opportunity to practice folding with prepared dough. (This dough is for learning purposes only and will not be baked.)
Each participant will go home with:
A fresh, live sourdough starter ready to use
A small, bakery‑made loaf of sourdough bread
Whether you're brand‑new to sourdough or looking to gain confidence with breadmaking basics, this workshop will give you the skills—and the starter—you need to begin your sourdough journey.
