Freedom to Read Week

Get creative while celebrating your right to read! Join us during Freedom to Read Week for a hands-on workshop where we’ll turn challenging ideas into wearable art.

At this workshop, you'll learn how to use a button maker to create your own custom pin-back buttons.

What You'll Do:

• Design Your Own Pin: You can choose to design an original button using our provided art supplies—pens, markers, paper, and more.
• Stand Against Censorship: Alternatively, select from a curated collection of pre-printed designs featuring the covers and titles of books that have been challenged or banned in schools and libraries across Canada and the world.
• Spark a Conversation: While you create, we’ll facilitate an informal, engaging discussion about the importance of intellectual freedom, the effects of censorship, and the vital role of libraries in providing access to diverse viewpoints.

Leave with unique, wearable pins that not only show off your artistic side but also proudly proclaim your support for Freedom to Read.

No experience necessary! All supplies and button-making equipment will be provided.
