"Migrations" is an episode in the eight-part documentary series: "Black Life: Untold Stories". The series reframes the rich and complex histories of Black experiences in Canada. The “Migrations” episode unearths the roadblocks Black migrants have faced and continue to face on Canadian soil, as well as the extraordinary gains they have made in search of a better life. Featured as an interviewee in this episode is Gabriel Allahdua.
In his memoir, "Harvesting Freedom", Gabriel reveals the hidden exploitation of Canada’s farm labour system through his personal experiences as a former migrant worker. Gabriel’s story sheds light on the harsh realities faced by those who contribute to Canada's food production. As a key figure in the migrant justice movement, Gabriel Allahdua’s journey from St. Lucia to becoming a leading activist in Canada exemplifies resilience and the fight for human rights.
