It’s Pride Month and we are celebrating with the quirky queer cult classic, “But I’m A Cheerleader”, followed by a trivia challenge based upon the film.
Megan (Natasha Lyonne) considers herself a typical American girl. She excels in school and cheerleading, and she has a handsome football-playing boyfriend, even though she isn't that crazy about him. So she's stunned when her parents decide she's gay and send her to True Directions, a boot camp meant to alter her sexual orientation. While there, Megan meets a rebellious and unashamed teen lesbian, Graham (Clea DuVall). Though Megan still feels confused, she starts to have feelings for Graham.
“But I’m A Cheerleader” sheds light on the struggles and complexities of coming out in a conservative environment and the importance of finding a supportive community.
The movie has a run time of 1 hour and 25 minutes and is rated 13+.
Following the movie, there will be a trivia challenge where you will be able to answer some scintillating trivia about this adventurous film.
