Participate in a storytime and craft lead by Mermaid Sherriel, and wave across the border to some friends from the St. Clair County Library!
Mermaid Sherriel grew up splashing in the "Heart of the Great Lakes", Lake St. Clair, and currently calls the St. Clair River home. She earned her fin with the Caribbean Mermaid Academy back in 2016 on a trip to St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands. Since then, has been spotted swimming back and forth between the shorelines of Southern Ontario and Key West, Florida.
Sherriel will read How to Meet a Mermaid by Sue Fliess and participants will have the opportunity to make a mermaid jewelry craft and signs to use for the "cross-border wave." Participants will also have the opportunity to take pictures with Sherriel after the story.
At 1:30, we will move to a location next to the river, where participants will hold up the signs they have created and wave across the border to children from Port Huron who are participating in their own library's Summer Reading Program.
This program is going to take place outdoors. Please ensure you are dressed appropriately for the weather and wear sunscreen.
Look for the mermaid under the bridge!
